My inspiration for transitioning my writing to be more about my experiences than trying to make predictions, was Citi Field. I have been to many games in my life, but this is the first time I feel like I went to a game and absorbed the experience, and not just the play on the field. This may sound like old news to a majority of stadium goers, but I really always tried to focus on the games, or a bet that I may have had. Now that I am not gambling as much, and the fact that I was 3 hours early for Game 2, I feel like my eyes were opened to how much fun a day at the ball park can be. I filmed a bit of my experiences and posted it to YouTube, something I clearly have no business doing.
Just going around the park, seeing the fun stands, interesting food options, and just the engaging random quirks of the stadium, made me want to take a deeper dive into each park. Ironically, who knows how differently my experience would have been if things went as planned. My friend who I was going with, got caught up at work and it caused us to be about an hour late to game 1 (we fully intended on witnessing the double header). We could not figure out where to park, and also got turned around a few times, so ultimately, we decided to be the first fans in for Game 2.
Being first in line was interesting, as we were waiting in the car for the lot to open while a game, that we bought tickets for, was going on. It ultimately worked out, as we uncovered an awesome bar that also doubled as our entrance into the stadium. The “K” Korner is a place that I will likely go back to the next time I head to Citi Field, especially if I am so late that I am embarrassingly early.
The “Miz” on the Mound
As a Brewer’s fan, I am overjoyed with having a super talented, young pitcher that is garnering a ton of MLB attention. Jacob Misiorowski, who was a controversial All-Star after just 5 professional appearances, was on the bump for game 2. In classic fashion, this was the only game he has struggled in so far in his career, and I was front and center to witness it. Brandon Nimmo, a man that I once declared would be a MVP, crushed a grand slam (and also my dreams). It was definitely still a great experience seeing our future ace work, with what I hope will be a long career in a Brewer’s uniform.
The “Grab Bag”
A cool park experience that I will for sure be wasting a lot of money on in the future. Their is a window in the memorabilia store that allows you to spend about $50 to get a random item. The items vary from a foul ball, to an autographed bat. I won a replica line up card from the NLDS (Mets/Phillies) and NLCS (Mets/Dodgers), and I was fired up in the moment. My friend one a random foul ball from the last game, so I think I won this battle.
