Somehow, we sit 3 (4 if you count week zero) weeks into the college football season. There have been some amazing games, some mediocre games, and definitely some bad games (Go RU!). I am personally pulling for a little more amazing than bad in this rendition of college football.
Overall to date, I am 98-90 at picking college football spreads this season and have managed to participate in every single FBS game. There is a long season ahead, but I am pleased with the initial results!
Southern Methodist University (2-0) vs University of Louisville (1-1)
The ACC has definitely started the year off strong with their divisional match ups, having multiple ranked teams battle it out in the early goings of the 2026 season. SMU has been successful over the last few years, and this season seems to be no different, defeating Florida State on the road before blowing out UC Davis. While almost everyone selected Miami to run away with the ACC, SMU is one of those schools that seems to be the consensus 2 or 3 spot behind them in terms of end of year predictions.
Louisville had a brutal loss to Ole Miss, covering the 6.5 point spread, but falling by 3 on the road. Ole Miss is a very talented team, and it is definitely not easy playing them on the road for their home opener. The Cardinals then dismantled Villanova, as they should. Now, having their own home field advantage against a tough opponent, Louisville will need to get their fans behind them if they want to make SMU uncomfortable early.

Louisiana State University (2-0) vs University of Mississippi (2-0)
This is why I love college football. I am all for the villain arc of Lane Kiffin and his return to Ole Miss, which happened after a tremendous amount of drama. Does LSU have the fire power to go into Mississippi and take a huge SEC matchup? Yes, if they can overcome the rabid crowd that has had this game circled since the day it came out, and a talented Ole Miss team that was on the doorsteps of a National Championship game last season.
Trinidad Chambliss and Kyran Lacy lead this powerful offense, and they may be at a disadvantage. The coach on the other side of the field knows them very well, and will surely have a lot of motivation to make a statement. Ole Miss did beat Louisville in a very close game to open the season, so at least they have had a little adversity from a quality team. I just think the moment may be too big for them.
University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), -3
University of North Carolina (2-0) vs Clemson University (1-1)
Coach Belichick can really get people talking if he can manage to take down the former college football powerhouse on the road. After beating TCU in Ireland outright, North Carolina had an easy game against East Tennessee State. This will be their biggest test to date, and if their defense can continue to dominate, we may be looking at a 3-0 Tarheels team. A win would also mean they would need just one more win to match their entire season total from last season, which could happen in September. But hey, lets not get ahead of ourselves.
After being embarrassed at home against LSU, Clemson only scored one touchdown (about 4 minutes into the game) against Georgia Southern. They did win by 2 scores, but at the end of the day, if the offense cannot finish against an FCS school, how can they pair up against an ACC school with ACC talent? Dabo needs to figure it out before kickoff.
