It’s Saturday night and with June coming to a close, we are essentially at the halfway point of the MLB season. Let’s make a fun a parlay to close out the final Saturday in June.
Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels: OVER 8 Runs
While the Angels have been hot as of late (a 5 game win streak will invigorate any fan base), both teams have underperformed in 2024. Both teams have allowed more runs than they’ve scored, so their pitching staffs as a whole have not been able to keep up with their offenses output (granted, it has not always been great). With this being game three of the series, expect the bats to come alive.
Griffin Canning, LAA: OVER 4.5 Strikeouts
Canning has not had a great season thus far, especially in the strikeout department. Posting 59 k’s in 88 innings, Canning is well below a strikeout per inning. He is, however, coming off an impressive 5 strikeout, 7 inning win against Oakland in his last start. Maybe Canning has turned the corner.
Jo Adell, LAA: OVER 0.5 Hits
Adell has not been able to reach the heights that scouts once thought of him, at least not as of yet. Hitting well below the Mendoza line so far in 2024, Adell has been able to hit for extra bases at a career best level, homering 12 times and doubling 7 over just 73 games. Against a struggling Tigers team, look for Adell to record at least one base knock.
Riley Greene, DET: OVER 0.5 Home Runs
This is a second consecutive day that I feel Greene will go yard (and well, I was wrong yesterday). Overall, Greene is due for a homer, and against Canning who has allowed at least 1 home run in 8 of his last 10 starts. The righty/lefty matchup also favors Greene.
Collectively, these 4 bets parlayed cash out at +1400 or 14 to 1 on DraftKings Sportsbook. A $5 bet will net you $70.
